Prendre le thé dans un jardin britannique, loin de la réalité.
Dans la magnifique ville historique de Bath, il existe un hôtel de luxe où l’on peut savourer un tel moment de plaisir.
Les couleurs sont résolument vives et éclatantes. Le style de cette œuvre tend vers le fauvisme, par son usage audacieux de couleurs pures, non naturalistes, et ses contrastes saisissants.
Comme dans les œuvres de Matisse ou de Derain, la couleur devient ici émotion plutôt que représentation. Le traitement de la lumière et les aplats colorés évoquent également l’influence du postimpressionnisme, notamment dans l’usage expressif de la peinture pour transmettre une atmosphère plutôt qu’une réalité photographique.
Même si je n’ai pas peint de personnages, on pourrait s’attendre à les voir sortir de la maison à tout moment. C’est un moment de calme, juste avant l’arrivée des gens.
Le tableau est protégé par un vernis brillant qui fait ressortir les couleurs. Les cotés sont peints en blanc.

In the beautiful historical city of Bath, there is a luxury hotel where you can enjoy such a pleasure time.
The colors are definitively vivid and bright. The style of this work leans toward Fauvism, through its bold use of pure, non-naturalistic color and striking contrasts.
As in the works of Matisse or Derain, color here becomes emotion more than representation. The treatment of light and the vivid color fields also suggest Post-Impressionist influence, especially in the expressive use of paint to convey atmosphere rather than photographic reality.
Even if I didn’t paint people, you may expect to see them coming from the house at one time or another. This is a quiet time before the arrivals of the people.
The Pop colours are a nod to the Pop culture of the 60s and 70s.
