Sous les pavés…

La plage en référence à l’année 68, un de ces slogan qui flottait dans les rues de Paris.
Sous les pavés… la mer? et l’eau qui monte, monte sous les ponts de Paris.
On peut voir dans ce tableau un Paris brillant, propre et bourgeois sous un soleil d’hiver. Le Grand-palais brille sous un ciel bleu.
On peut y voir aussi Paris qui se noie sous l’eau de la Seine qui monte. En référence au réchauffement climatique.

« Sous les pavés… la plage »: « under the cobblestones… the beach » This sentence was one of the slogan made by French students revolutionists in 1968; Students from the famous university « La Sorbonne ».
This is a realist representation of the « Grand Palais » in Paris and the famous bridge of « Alexandre III »

What do you see under the cobblestones?

Paris is a beautiful bourgeois old lady, shiny under the sun.
When I paint Paris I do it differently than New-York or London because it’s the way I feel about it.
I won’t use the bright colours of London nor the craziness and exuberant brush of New-York, I’ll paint Paris as something very realistic, close to a photograph because for me, Paris doesn’t move, especially this part of the city near the Champs-Elysées with a typical architecture. Paris lacks that friendly craziness and bright colours.
