Les lumières dans la nuit londonienne. Dans le quartier de Kensington, au sud de Londres. Ce tableau fait partie de la série « Kensington and Chelsea » de nuit.

J’aime ces architectures, ces briques, en contraste avec les lumières des appartements.
Le secret est celui que les habitants cachent derrière les murs et les fenêtres de leur appartement ou maison. Qu’est-ce qu’il y a derrière ces murs? Des histoires d’amour, de histoires de famille, d’argent?

N’avez vous pas envie de découvrir cette piscine au rez-de-chaussée de cette maison victorienne, de vous faire inviter? de croire que vous êtes le propriétaire? N’était-ce pas le début d’un roman, d’un film?

On peut imaginer des vies derrière ces fenêtres, des histoires différentes de la notre. On est plus proche du film, de la série, que de la réalité. Le style est impressionniste, c’est une impression, un rêve.

A light in the night in a peaceful night that settles on London streets, in Kensington and Chelsea area. In the series: Kensington and Chelsea at night.

I love and I did paint this area and these buildings a lot already but I can’t stop painting them. I love the contrast between the cheerfulness of the lights in the flats and the rough structure of the bricks.

What happens behind the curtains of the houses in front of you? Love stories, money stories? Don’t you want to be invited to stay in the house with the swimming pool or imagine that it’s yours?


You can imagine the life of the people living there, make them yours. This painting is more like a movie than the reproduction of the real life. It’s a dream.

Vers un futur radieux

Voici l’histoire d’un tableau qui a démarré en février 2021.

J’ai fait ce tableau représentant la National Gallery à Londres.

A l’époque, le tableau était sombre et parlait de la pollution atmosphérique et de l’avenir incertain pour notre planète.

Je l’ai trouvé trop sombre, et je l’ai modifié en 2022, mais je l’ai trouvé trop vide et sans consistance, alors je l’ai modifié jusqu’à sa destination finale en 2023.

Il parle toujours d’un des sujets qui me préoccupe: l’avenir de notre belle planète bleue, mais il est (presque) tourné vers l’espoir…

Comme le tableau précédent « Jungle Petit Palais »; il fait partie d’une série qui n’est pas récente; Cette série de la ville envahie par la nature germe depuis Tchernobyl la catastrophe nucléaire de 1986. Le site a perdu les humains mais a trouvé les plantes, les arbres et les animaux.  

Inquiète pour le monde de demain, entre inconscience écologique, futures guerres de l’eau, virus et explosions nucléaires, j’y vois malgré tout un espoir: celui que la nature prendra le dessus et restera sur notre planète quand les humains seront partis!

« Towards a radiant future »

This is the story of a painting started in 2021. At that time I wanted to show the effect of pollution on the planet. But then, I found it too scary, with no hope ! So I modified it in 2022 rather calm but blank, but then, I found it nice but shallow, with no substance.

So, I modified it in 2023 with its definitive last version.

Like the previous painting « Jungle Petit Palais », this series about the city engulfed by the trees and plants is not a recent idea but one I’ve have been mulling over for quite a long time! In fact, probably since the accident at Tchernobyl a nuclear site in Ukraine, in 1986. The site has been taken over by nature since then!

Aware about the future of our planet, between future wars over water, nuclear accidents and viruses, I see though some hope about our planet: hope that when the human beings are gone, the nature, plants and animals will take their place back!

Saint Pancras; station de train à Londres: les arrivées.

Pour moi Saint Pancras représente la porte de Londres et du Royaume Uni.

Mais pas seulement, c’est aussi une histoire d’amour avec cette capitale. Histoire qui a commencé lorsque j’avais 18 ans. C’était le premier pays étranger que je visitais, la première fois que je prenais l’avion (pas encore d’Eurostar à cette époque).

C’est le premier pays étranger que j’ai fait découvrir à mon futur mari et plus tard à mes enfants.

Ce tableau représente donc ce lien que j’entretiens avec cette ville, avec ce pays dont je me sens proche sans avoir de liens familiers avec.

It’s not only the story of people arriving from the continent in London. It’s above all a love story.

The love story that I started when I was 18, on my first trip in a foreign country, my first trip on a plane. (There was no Eurostar at that time).

The first foreign country that I shared with my future husband and then my children.

This painting represents the link I feel with this country curiously although I have got no family there.

Ville de Bath, en Angleterre où Jane Austen venait en vacances. C’est une interprétation audacieuse de la ville tranquille de Bath, avec des palmiers qui n’existent pas en vrai mais qui ajoute une touche d’exubérance, de joie et de soleil dans un environnement architectural superbe mais un peu répétitif.

  Cette joie, cette passion sont soulignées par les couleurs Crimson et Magenta vif (Vif Magenta élue couleur Pantone année 2023).

Le style est impressionniste mais tient un peu des couleurs et de l’exubérance non conventionnelle du mouvement « fauve ».

C’est un rêve qui nous permet d’oublier le monde qui nous entoure, avec ses problèmes, ses guerres et cette angoisse écologique pour demain.

Laissons-nous rêver encore un peu devant un tableau passionné et joyeux, ensoleillé et non conventionnel.

From the city of Bath, UK, where Jane Austen used to come on holidays. It’s a bold a free interpretation of the characteristic architecture of the « circle » in Bath. The palm trees, crimson and magenta are not real of course, they add some bright, passion and exuberance to a  somewhat beautiful but a little repetitive architecture.

The style is impressionist with the craziness of the « Fauvism », the bright colours, the passion of the red-magenta and crimson (selected Pantone of Year 2023).

Let’s feel the joy and exuberance from the colours, from the summer trees.

Let’s dream of a better future for all. Forget a little about all the problems, wars, environment issues , just for a while when looking at this painting.

Un pub londonien à Chelsea.

Un vendredi soir, tout le monde se retrouve au pub, pour boire un verre, pour manger. Le Pub anglais est une institution. Un lieu de rencontres et de retrouvailles. atmosphère à la fois mélancolique mais tendre.

Les couleurs sont gaies et vives, c’est une image de gaité et d’insouciance: on lâche les ennuis de la semaine au pub, le vendredi soir!

Les personnages ne sont pas importants dans ce tableau, ils font partie du décor au même titre que les lumières et les couleurs (sans doute moins importants finalement!)

Je voulais dans cette trilogie donner une impression de chaleur et de gaité, loin de ce monde fou.

Everybody is gathering to meet friends, have a drink or something to eat. The British pub is part of the culture.

The atmosphere of the painting is happy and colourful: evrybody forgets about their problems in the pub on a Friday night!

The characters do not have a very important place in this painting; there are part of the atmosphere: no more important than the light and the colours of the interiors.

The atmosphere, the colours that represent the lively and warm atmosphere of the place are the most important in the painting.

I want to convey a feeling of happiness with this trilogy. Far from the mad world!
