Ce sujet représentant le Colle de Christ Church à Oxford est un sujet intéressant pour ses fondus de lumière douces en opposition avec les panneaux de bois de la salle à manger.
Cette étude est plus « douce » et moins détaillée que le tableau final, néanmoins il offre une vision différente du second, il met plus en valeur la douceur d’une atmosphère que le détail d’une peinture figurative.
