Série de tableaux en petits formats sur la Cathédrale de l’université d’Oxford: Christ Church College

J’ai eu l’occasion de passer une nuit dans cette université en été il y a quelques années. Quelle incroyable expérience de marcher dans les pas des étudiants célèbres qui ont fait l’histoire de la Grande Bretagne !

Quel joyau cette cathédrale au milieu de la célèbre université de Oxford : Christ Church.

Un joyau à la fois architectural, historique. Les pierres ; les vitraux et les tissus se répondent en couleur pour le plaisir des yeux. Les oreilles revivent les plus beaux morceaux de musique lors des concerts. L’âme des croyants et non croyants est apaisée  lorsqu’ils assistent à un office.

This series of small size paintings about the cathedral of Christ Church college: Oxford.

I went once in Oxford and spent the night at the Christ Church College there, it was a wonderful experience.

I’ve never seen before a cathedral inside a college in France!

It’s a gem for its architecture, its history. There a mix of old stones, religious scenes in the stained-glass windows and the fabrics from the carpet and the cushions.

It’s a wonder for the eyes, for the ears,because you may assist to a concert of a mass with carols and choirs.

It’s a moment of peace of quiet for the soul of believers and non believers; you just feel at peace there! Far from the crazy world.

The paintings are painted on the sides; protected by a bright acrylic varnish, ready to hang on a wall.

« Série Londres de nuit » dans les quartiers « pauvres » historiquement de la capitale anglaise: Shoreditch et Brick Lane au Sud Est de la capitale .

Les photos de ces tableaux furent prises en mars 2023 lorsque j’ai fait le salon « The Other Art Fair » dans le quartier de Shoreditch.

Londres de nuit reste colorée et cozy pour moi même dans des quartiers plus sombres qui à première vue semblent peu accessibles. Dans cette série de quatre tableaux de Londres, j’ai représenté des moments de vie; un bar très chic et cosy à Harrods, un quartier qui change, coincé entre la tamise et la City (le quartier des affaires), des petites boutiques de frippe et des petits cafés, pubs…

Ici, nous avons le bar de Harrods « Baccarat Harrods », (tableau 1)

une boîte ou un restaurant (tableau 2) aménagé dans une ancienne usine ou entrepôt; ;

les boutiques vintage (de frippe) sur Brick Lane (tableau 4) et le petit café « arabe » (SOLD) où je prenais mon café le matin avant de commencer à travailler au salon d’art de Saatchi (The Other Art Fair) dans le quartier.

This series of paintings is about London at night in the area of Shoreditch and Brick Lane (South-East) between the Thames and the City.
The photographs for the paintings were taken by me during my stay in london in March 2023 for the « The Other Art Fair » that I was proud to attend to.

This second series of small size paintings is made from photographs taken in the « historically poor » parts of the British capitale: A restaurant or club in an ex factory on Brick lane; The Tags on the walls opposite the new buildings in the City; the little coffee shop where I took my coffee in the morning before attending The Other Art Fair organised by Saatchiart on Brick Lane; and one of the Vintage shop on Brick Lane.

London is always colorful even when we are in a different environment. Here, in this area you can feel the history of the city and its change. It’s always a pleasure to paint it again and again. It feels at home!

« Série Londres de nuit » dans les quartiers chics de la capitale anglaise: Soho et Kensington

Les photos de ces tableaux furent prises en mars dernier lorsque j’ai fait le salon « The Other Art Fair » dans le quartier de Shoreditch.

Londres de nuit reste colorée et cozy, les lumières des lampadaires mettent en valeur les immeubles de briques, les Pubs et autres commerces de brique et de glace.

Ici, nous avons un Pub célèbre à SOHO, Le Clachan, dans ce quartier centre de la ville, celui des spectacles et des plaisirs, restaurants, pubs… (tableau 2 et 3) Un magasin chic dans le quartier de Kensington (Jo Malone) (tableau 1), une façade victorienne de brique dans ce même quartier.

This new series is part of a series of paintings about London night.

This first series of small size paintings are made from photographs taken in the wealthy parts of the British capitale: Here a famous pub (The Clachan) in Soho (paintings 2 and 3), a famous chic parfum store (Jo Malone) in Kensington (painting 1), and a brick frontage in the same wealthy part of the city.

London is always cozy and deliciously colorful. It’s always a pleasure to paint it again and again. It feels at home!
