Beyond appearances: London
Londres de nuit avec ses gratte-ciels lumineux, dans le quartier de la City: quartier des affaires, de la bourse de l’argent des échanges commerciaux.
Comme toute grande ville Londres est belle , elle brille de tous ses feux, de ses lumières qui attirent comme les papillons de nuit.

Mais qui y a t-il derrière ces lumières? Ces vies oubliées, ces activités bancaires et commerciales qui laissent des personnes sur le bord du chemin.


Les coups de pinceaux fermes et parfois violents dans la matière donne l’idée de cette violence urbaine et parfois déshumanisée.

La douceur des couleurs pastels permet d’adoucir le contexte et de ne mettre en valeur que la beauté du site.

La peinture est presque dans la matière sans eau. Je joue avec les taches colorées, les traits rapides et vifs, imprécis, pour donner un aspect flou à l’ensemble.

L’atmosphère du tableau pourrait être lourde à cause des empâtements dans la matière et des traits naturellement imprécis. Cependant la luminosité qui provient des oppositions de couleurs et petites touches multicolores donne une atmosphère chaleureuse à l’ensemble.

Le tableau est prêt à accrocher au mur, il est protégé par un vernis acrylique brillant qui fait ressortir l’intensité des couleurs.
Il est daté, signé et délivré avec un certificat d’authenticité et une facture.

Beyond appearances: London

London blue night: The city of London with its skyscrapers , a city always moving, always changing.
« The City » of London: capital of money, banks and traders.
The city is lit by many lights that make it charming, beautiful at night.
This is the first signification of this painting.


So why did I name it: beyond appearances? Because like any other big city, beyond the appearances of lights and beauty there is another reality: abandonned homeless in the streets, money makers that rule the world, injustice and unfairness… The beauty and the beast in one picture.

I used lots of painting without much water: I wanted the effect rough, the painting brushstrokes are clearly visible: They represent the violence of the city, the noise, the lights, and yet soften by the light and warm colors.

Cette ville éternelle qui représente notre passé s’enveloppe de nuages. Il s’agit d’une peinture de figuration libre, mais symbolique.
Cette peinture représente notre passé (Rome éternelle) notre présent ;le ciel bleu; le futur: les nuages.
C’est un message symbolique et politique d’une époque troublée par l’arrivée de nuages qui assombrissent le ciel et pourtant des nuances de roses, de mauve, de tons orangés apaisent la situation: on peut y voir ici l’idée que les choses ne sont pas définies, qu’il y a de l’espoir.Roma furiosa: Rome se consume de chaleur, de passion; les ancêtres de l’antiquité sont passés, emportant avec eux les secrets d’une ville qui se développe au delà de son continent pour se transformer en ruines quelques 2000 ans après.
L’histoire se répète, les hommes font les mêmes erreurs… Leurs passions, le pouvoir après quoi ils courent leur font oublier l’essentiel.

Ce que vous voyez n’est pas qu’une paire de baskets.
Ce sont des baskets qui hésitent : dois-je continuer mon chemin ou dois-je m’arrêter là ? D’où le titre du tableau: Brexit
Dans la vie nous nous sommes tous posés cette question : qu’est-ce que je fais de mon chemin maintenant ?
J’ai pris ici le symbole de la Grande Bretagne avec ce drapeau symbole de l’unité des régions ; de l’unité, il n’y en a plus : le pays est divisé par un choix politique et économique. Cette paire de chaussures semble hésiter aussi.

Le tableau est protégé par un vernis acrylique brillant qui fait ressortir les couleurs. Les cotés sont peints en orange et marron: pas besoin de cadre. Prêt à accrocher.

What you see is not only a pair of sneakers; it’s a symbol.
A political symbol of a situation that doesn’t move, not really. This pair of shoes hesitates: should I Stay or should I go?
Should I continue to move forward or should I stop now.
The brown color can be interpreted as some borders between the countries. Borders that people make to protect themselves. Borders that stop people to meet, to understand each other.
This decorative bright painting is definitively a political one. (Or not, if You want it).

Pause déjeuner au Ranelagh- SOLD

Dans la série des théâtres parisiens, voici le dernier tableau: Pause déjeuner au théâtre du Ranelagh. Le théâtre semble vide mais les accessoires sont déjà sur la scène dans l’attente de la prochaine répétition. Les acteurs et actrices, les techniciens sont partis déjeuner. L’atmosphère est douce, les couleurs chaudes ; ce rouge prédominant qui pourrait apporter une sorte de violence au tableau est adouci par les lumières. L’ambiance est « cosy », on s’y sent chez soi.
Il s’agit d’un des plus vieux théâtre parisien: Le Ranelagh, caché dans une petite rue du 16ème arrondissement de Paris.
J’y ai fait mes premières armes en tant qu’actrice il y a quelques années,…
C’est une façon de rendre hommage à ce lieu magnifique, de se remémorer le temps qui passe, de mettre en valeur ces métiers du spectacle vivant pour lesquels j’ai toujours eu beaucoup d’affection.

This is one of the oldest theatre in Paris; France.
The theatre seems empty and yet, there are some pieces of furniture on the scene: the actors and actresses, the staff are having lunch.

In a realist and yet while trying to create a special atmosphere, I played with the colors
the violence of the reds are softened by the lights of the theatre

Les Bouffes du nord

Dans la série des théâtres parisiens; voici celui des Bouffes du Nord, porte de la chapelle.
Un théâtre très ancien sans scène, les comédiens jouent littéralement aux pieds des spectateurs (du moins dans le dernier spectacle que j’ai vu). Les spectateurs sont donc acteurs et spectateurs à la fois.
Dans ce tableau j’ai voulu traduire une ambiance cozy et néanmoins un sentiment d’abandon émane de cette peinture, comme un théâtre qui aurait été oublié. Les sièges sont vides, en attente des spectateurs, les lumières se préparent, c’est une scène de concentration, de silence, comme lorsque les comédiens se préparent avant le spectacle.

From the series: theatre and entertainment, this is the theatre of les Bouffes du Nord, in Paris where I’ve seen recently a play by Peter Brooke.
It’s a very old theatre with no scene so the actors play directly at the feet of the spectactors, which make them spectators and actors as well.

In this painting I wanted to convey the emotion of a theatre before the show starts; when the technicians make the last tests. The scene is cozy and yet there is an atmosphere of an abandoned building. Seats are empty, waiting for the audience to fill in.
It’s a scene of concentration, of silence before the rush of the audience and the passion of the actors.

Theatre scene: la Comedia dell’arte is a very ancient period of the history of theatre. Coming from Italy, especially Venice, people used to wear masks to go to parties in disguise. They are different characters, from Arlequin and Colombine to other less known. My love for everything theatre, my past tend to play a important role for the choice of my subjet. Red, bright colours in opposition to the black sides of the painting enhance the two main characters. The style is less precise than usual, we are here between reality and dream.

Pub à Londres de nuit.
Londres, ses pubs, cette institution.
Cette ambiance à la Dickens… cette peinture est un retour à ma ville de coeur, à cette architecture que j’aime tant et à son passé.
Ici, on peut imaginer les « ladies » et « gentlemen » sortir d’un spectacle; on peut deviner les amis et les familles discutant des résultats d’un match de cricket autour d’une bière.
Malgré l’ambiance de nuit, j’ai utilisé des couleurs chaudes comme les rouges et les oranges pour adoucir et donner une atmosphère douce et paisible au sujet.

London, my favorite! I often paint this city because I feel particularly attached to it and because I love the architecture, the atmosphere and the people there.
In this painting I’ve represented a pub at night. Pubs there are an institution, a part of the city, a part of the culture.
At night this pub has an atmosphere of Dickens’ novels. We’ve been travelling in the past; ones can see ladies and gentlemen going to the theatre, friends and family gathering around a pint of lager.
The painting is dark, yet I wanted to convey the atmosphere of charm, of coziness, like in a novel. Far from all the turmoil of the real society I want to share with the art collector some peaceful and calm feeling. The oranges and light rose give the impression of warm and cosiness even in the night.

Noël au Printemps. Grand magasin parisien décembre 2018.
J’aime la ville, les silences de la nuit et ses lumières en hiver qui nous font oublier le froid et le gris de la journée.
Je rends les couleurs de l’hiver très brillantes, lumineuses et colorées pour jouer sur le contraste avec les ombres, la nuit et les bruns et noirs.
La ville m’attire, me fascine tant parce qu’elle est vivante et que tant de cœurs y battent.

Noël au Printemps-Paris- Paris Printemps’ big store in winter. It’s time for the last Christmas shopping. Big stores are all lighten and the whites, reds and yellows are like a lighthouse in the night.
I love the streets at night when there is a feeling of quiet and warm even if it’s winter and if it’s in a big city.
I did a lof of winter cities paintings this year because I Iove cities and it’s always a pleasure to depict them, because I love the colours of winter: for me, red and yellow, sometimes brown.
I definitively like warm and bright colours to contrast to brown and black colours. I don’t want to be precise in my gestures, in the lines, I want to convey a feeling and I hope I do it so.
