La ville se protège, les habitants se cachent derrières leurs fenêtres dans leurs immeubles.
Le temps s’est arrêté, plus un bruit ne vient couvrir les pleurs des enfants qui s’ennuient.
Les buildings de cette ville (imaginée de New-York) construits les uns contre les autres, les uns sur les autres pourraient être angoissant et étouffants;
cependant la douceur dans le choix des couleurs donne un ton plus gai; presque « cosy »
l’imprécision de certaines parties du tableau donne un sentiment d’irréel qui évite l’angoisse et l’étouffement propre au sujet

Peur sur la ville/ Fear on the city: acrylic painting multi colored

This painting is referring to the current fear that spread on all countries in the world: disrupting the habits, the economy and changing the way of thinking of the people.
In France, Spain, Italy, in Californy, in New-york people are asked to stay at home to protect themselves and others from the virus
Some of them are staying in a country house with a garden, some others are confined in tiny appartements in cities.

Ce tableau montre que derrière les apparences de la beauté et de la brillance, il peut y avoir des cotés sombres…
Ceci vaut pour la ville, comme pour les humains!
Ne pas toujours se fier aux apparences.

Ce tableau représente un New-York idéalisé, plus proche de l’ambiance cinématographique que de la réalité, cependant j’ai fait des clins d’œil à la ville en représentant certains immeubles connus…

It’s a fictional city and yet some of the buildings are painted from the real ones.
The city of lights and fame can hide some dark places.
It’s a metaphor based on human beings: you have to guess what is behind a smile, a happy face, a nice person…
The city has two faces: people play some roles…

Vue d’une rue de New-York d’un pont d’une voie de métro désaffectée
J’ai choisi cette vue à cause de la lumière qui joue avec les ombres.
Les couleurs sont fortes, le contraste entre les ombres et la lumière est décidément vif .
Les touches de peinture se font dans la matière: presque sans eau.

The « Musicals » painting wants to tell you that when you’re not happy with your life, make it better, dream it better.
It’s what I’m doing when I’m painting New-York, my inspiration from this city comes from the fact that I see it through the lenses of a movie camera!
I do not see NY, I life it, I create it, I imagine it.
This is not the real NY but the one I want to see,
the world I want to see! Full of lights, of music: a Broadway musical!

La mise en perspective de cet Hotel Hyatt à New-York donne l’impression que l’immeuble va s’envoler, il semble atteindre le ciel.
Le ciel lumineux qui fait se refléter les immeubles dans les murs de glace de l’hotel donne une double impression de puissance. Mais au lieu d’écraser le passant, il l’élève vers le ciel.

Turn towards the sky and the sun, these giant building seem to reach the stars.
The glass of the Hyatt hotel in New-york is reflecting the other buildings and make them even more impressive.

The contract between a blur turquoise sky and the brown orange of the building adds some king of softness to the imposing skyscrapers and the perspective

Après l’exubérance des tableaux précédents sur New-York , j’ai voulu la représenter dans le calme et la sérénité, totalement à l’opposé de la ville en réalité, puisque c’est une ville qui bouge, qui fait du bruit, où les sirènes des véhicules de secours côtoient les klaxons des voitures.
La ville qui ne dort jamais semble recouverte d’un nuage de calme, d’une vapeur de poésie.
En utilisant de l’acrylique et des encres j’ai été plus loin dans le sentiment d’irréalité et de rêve.
Ce qui compte dans ma peinture sont les impressions, l’interprétation des villes tel que je les conçois.
La série de New-York est faite à partir de photos avec l’accord de son propriétaire.

NY is a city of excess: noise, crowd…
In the streets surrounded by buildings all taller than the others, people are overwhelmed by a feeling of movement, of liveliness of crazyness.
In the series of « cities », after having represented the crazyness of the skyscrappers pushing one another, after the city at night with multi colors , bright and golden;
this is a new representation of NY: calm and serene. as if the city has been surrounded by a white veil, all poetry and softness.
I wanted to convey an idea of calm, of beauty and serenity far from the truth: closer to a dream

Une des rues de la grande ville, le soir tombe sur la ville
Ville de démesure architecturale de bruit et de couleurs, de panneaux lumineux qui éclatent les pupilles dans la nuit.
Cependant avec ce soleil qui se couche et ces lumières douces, j’ai voulu mettre de la douceur et de la poésie dans une ville qui ne se couche jamais.

The city of all hopes , the geant city full of life, noise, with the biggest skyscrapers in the world.
The multi-coloured city.
New-York is a dream for the new comers, a dream for those who want to discover the entrance to the USA. For tourists, it’s the streets the architecture and the buildings they have seen in movies and TV series…
