Sont ces personnes qui écoutent vos élucubrations de fin de nuit dans les bars et les lounge des hôtels de luxe. Ils sont là, présents et discrets, presque invisibles mais prêts à vous servir à tout moment.

Dans la grande solitude d’une nuit au bar, vous attendez. Vous attendez quelque chose ou quelqu’un avec qui vous pourriez partager vos moments de vie.

L’atmosphère est douce et vous oscillez entre le jour et la nuit, entre l’état de veille et le sommeil.

Plus que jamais ce tableau s’éloigne de la réalité, les visages sont à peine humains, les verres et lampes qui se reflètent dans le miroir sont à peine soulignés, encore une fois il s’agit d’une atmosphère que je veux partager, une douceur romantique mais nostalgique.

Angels of the night

They are these people serving in hotel bars and café. They are nearby is case you need anything, discreet but present. They listen to you stoically if you need a shoulder to cry on.

A night of solitude in a bar of a nice hotel, you are waiting for something, or someone with whom you may share a part of your life.

The atmosphere is cosy and you don’t know if it’s still day or night, between a state of wakefulness or unconsciousness.

More than ever this painting is moving from figurative and reproduction of the reality. It’s like a dream, something blurred, more expressionist than realistic.

The faces are almost not human, the glasses and lamps reflected in the mirror are just a line.

Still, I want to share an atmosphere, a romantic but nostalgic softness.

It’s a time in a show when they share something with the audience;
You know that it’s the end of the play, they all go back behind the scene, you come back to your flat.
This is it, the end of a show, the end of a dream.

My painting is made of thousands of multi-coloured touches of paint, sometimes imperceptible: these little impressionism touches give the painting an atmosphere. I don’t want to make it realistic.

Il était une fois une petite fille appelée Alice qui jouait dans un jardin de l’université de Christ Church, à Oxford où son père était professeur.
L’arbre représenté n’est peut-être pas celui du lapin blanc mais la légende est en marche…

La lumière d’une journée d’été, j’ai voulu traiter le contraste entre la lumière et les ombres en même temps que raconter l’histoire d’Alice.

C’est un rêve, un tableau qui comme le livre d’Alice au pays des merveilles vous entraine dans une aventure.

Le style pictural est rapide, dynamique et audacieux. Il est fait de couches successives, rapides, l’ensemble du tableau parait rouge mais il est fait de milliers de petits touches de couleur pour lui donner un dynamisme, une impression, une irréalité.

Oxford: Christ Church College

Once there was a little girl called Alice whose father worked at Christ church college in Oxford.
This is the garden where she used to play. The tree was probably not the tree where she saw the white rabbit but anyway, this is the start of the legend…

It’s a beautiful summer day in Oxford ; the sun is shining. I wanted to play with the contrast between light and shadow while telling the story of Alice’s garden in Oxford. The painting should send you to a fantasy world, a dream.

The painting style is dynamic and bold. It is made up of successive, vivid and colourful brushstrokes that makes the painting lively.

Un voyage imaginaire à Miami, un rêve de plage de soleil et de calme.

Encore une fois j’ai utilisé les couleurs pour donner une impression, j’ai travaillé dans la matière, à la fois épaisse et très présente pour la voiture, plus légère dans le ciel. Les arbres flottent dans le vent léger, les couleurs sont vives et irréelles, on n’est pas dans une réalité mais dans un rêve.

A trip in Miami. A dream of holidays, of serenity and sun.

Still there I used the colours and I played with the substance to make an opposition between the car and the sky, light and delicate. The trees are movins in a gentle breeze, the colours are artificials: we are not in a reality scene, we are in a dream.

A storm is coming

Un orage s’approche sur l’hôtel à Miami, les couleurs de l’hôtel se confondent avec le ciel ; le vent souffle sur les arbres et ils ondulent dans le vent à la fois fragiles et bien ancrés dans le sol.

Cette fois, ce n’est pas tant le sujet qui est mis en valeur que le style proprement dit.

Ce tableau dans la lignée du fauvisme a pris son envol tout seul.

Encore une fois j’ai utilisé les couleurs pour donner une impression, j’ai travaillé dans la matière, à la fois épaisse et très présente, plus légère dans le ciel. Mais ces traits noirs qui entourent les arbres sont venus presque par hasard, ils ont ainsi contribué à l’atmosphère du tableau autant que la couleur et la matière.

A storm is coming on the hotel in Miami. The colours of the hotel are mixing with the yellow blue of the sky; the wind is blowing in the branches of the trees, making them strong and fragile at the same time.

For once, the topic of the painting is not that important.

This painting in the line of fauvism movement took it’s one way.

Still there I used the colours and I played with the substance to make an opposition between the strong parts of the building and the delicate parts of the sky. But the black traits surrounding the trees imposed themselves and gave a special atmosphere to the painting as well as the colours and the paint itself.

Let the sunshine in ; let’s forget about bad news and hatred that seem to overwhelm our world.

Let’s dream about a castle in Spain, on the sun, in the summer light.

This painting is a cry against the reality of life; between worldwide virus infection, endless wars and hatred perpetuated by politics, social networks…

It’s also a painting about freedom; a catharsis for the painter who sees a way to get rid of her anger against wars, hate… The painting is freer from any pictural style: it’s an Impressionism-flamboyant style. Impressionism because I want to convey a feeling rather than the reality of what we see. Flamboyant, because I want to break free of the imposed artistic conventions without tending to painting abstraction.

C’est une toile d’été, une toile de soleil et de bonheur représentant le parc du palais de l’Alcazar à Séville.

C’est une œuvre de liberté : liberté après les mois d’angoisse, de séparation de nos proches. Liberté de voyager à nouveau, de redécouvrir le monde.

C’est aussi une liberté de mouvement dans le style pictural ; plus libre, plus fluide.

Dans un style que j’aimerais qualifier d’ « Impressionnisme Flamboyant » : une impression, pas une reproduction, la flamboyance des couleurs, des petites touches vives et rapides de peinture conjugués à de grands mouvements colorés

Such a beautiful day with a sun overlooking the park, all greens and yellow.

The luxuriant greens of the plants and trees are surrounded by the hot yellow-whites of the path. No clouds in the sky, it’s a beautiful summer day.

This is what I call a painting of freedom: freedom from the turbulences of life, of illnesses, of movement. After the Covid-19 nightmare.

Freer from pictural style: This style is what I want to call: Impressionism-flamboyant. Impressionnism because like in most of my paintings I want to convey a feeling rather than the reality of what we see. Flamboyant, because I want to break free of the imposed artistic conventions without tending to painting abstraction;

Quand la peinture prend tes émotions pour se construire elle-même…

« Un autre jour se lève » acrylique sur toile 40/40cm devait être un tableau de Séville doux et calme, une ville qui se réveillait doucement dans les lueurs nuancées d’un matin ensoleillé.

Mais un nouveau désordre mondial en décide autrement, la peur, la colère, un sentiment d’impuissance et d’injustice nous saisit et cette peinture calme à l’origine se transforme d’elle-même en peinture sombre d’une fin de civilisation.
Mais, l’espoir est toujours là: un jour nouveau se lève…

Halas the destiny of the world has decided otherwise! Another war, another deaths.

Fear, anger feeling of being hopeless and feeling of injustice overwhelms the artist and the painting transforms itself on something far more sombre that the initial idea!

Yet, the hope is still here: a new day is coming…
